The liver is the single organ that is indispensable in assisting the gut to detox the blood bound toxins. Our modern-day lifestyle and diet have enormous negative effects on our organs of detox, especially the colon, and the liver.
It is said that food alone is affected by as many as 80,000 additives and chemicals. Apart from that, food is also exposed to pesticides and other toxic chemicals that can seriously interfere with our body’s natural mechanism to detox. The toxins themselves can result in disturbing the integrity of important structures and organs in the body. Hence, Ayurveda discourages vigorous, strong, and depleting detox protocols.
In Ayurveda, we have a target-specific approach to detox that is diet and herbal based. A gentle and deep herbal detox that is effective in keeping the body clean from toxins and helps to rejuvenate the organs that are responsible for keeping our bodies clean is recommended. Healthy Digestion is a polyherbal combination that is incredibly effective in cleansing the upper GI. Bhunimba and Ela are the primary herbs to detox acidic Pitta from the stomach. Whereas, the Healthy Metabolism, which is also another polyherbal formula is particularly effective in cleansing the middle GI. Musta and Vidanga both help in mobilizing Vata and reduce gut swelling.
Furthermore, the Healthy Colon purges all the toxins that have been mobilized by the Healthy Digestion and Healthy Metabolism out of the gut working on the lower GI.
