Vrudda Rogi with Udara, and Shotha
Namaste and Welcome to Athreya’s Case Discussion Forum!
Today Ayurvedic Practitioner - Sonia Smith presents the case of a VRUDDA ROGI. He is a 92-year-old male client exhibiting the symptoms of UDARA (Abdominal distension), SHOTHA (Abdominal swelling, bloating, and constipation), low energy, and difficulty walking, among several other conditions for which he is being treated with pharmaceutical medication. The case analysis shows that his pathology is due to a combination of factors such as his age, the side effects of pharmaceutical medicine, surgeries, and a KAPHA and AMA (Metabolic toxins)-increasing diet & lifestyle together with deep-seated VATA in the depleted DHATUS (Building blocks of the body). These NIDANA (Causative factors) have led to MARGA AVARODHA (Blocked channels) and VYANA VATA SANGA (Stagnation). CHIKITSA (Treatment) includes NITYA VIRECHANA (Daily purgatives), TAKRA PRAYOGA (Indian buttermilk remedy), and SHWAYATHU HARA (Swelling reducing) herbs to reduce SHOTHA and UDARA.
